Egyptian FM in Ramallah to push for resumption of peace talks

Xinhua, June 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry arrived to the West Bank city of Ramallah on Wednesday to meet with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas.

This is the first visit by the Egyptian Foreign Minister to the West Bank since 2012.

Shoukry is also scheduled to meet with the Palestinian Foreign Minister and Prime Minister during his brief visit.

The talks will address the latest political developments in light of the French initiative to hold an international peace conference, and Egypt's role in the initiative.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Al-Malki previously stated that Palestinians will discuss the invitation by the Arab ministerial quartet chaired by Egypt with Shoukry, hoping the necessary measures will be taken in response to the escalating Israeli settlement construction. Endit
