Belarus eyes to place 1 bln USD in Eurobonds

Xinhua, June 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

Belarus is getting ready to place up to 1 billion U.S. dollars in Eurobonds, news agency BelTA reported Friday, quoting Belarusian Finance Minister Vladimir Amarin.

The minister said the documentation on placement of Eurobonds was in preparation.

As for the planned maturity of the obligations, Amarin said: "Approximately for a seven-year term, in order to account for the peak of external debt repayment."

The Council of the Eurasian Fund of Stabilization and Development approved earlier the allocation of a 2 billion U.S. dollars financial loan to Belarus. The funds will be provided in seven tranches during 2016-2018, the first tranche of 500 million U.S. dollars has been already received.

The Belarusian authorities are also actively negotiating with the International Monetary Fund about getting a new 3 billion U.S. dollars loan. Endit
