Senegalese forward Demba Ba scored a hat-trick as Shanghai Greenland smashed Hangzhou Greentown 4-0 at home in the 13th round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Sunday.

Ba broke the deadlock with a powerful header just before the interval. The Greenland doubled their lead in the 73rd minute as Colombian midfielder Fredy Guarin shot was parried away by Hangzhou goalkeeper and Ba followed up to score.

The former Chelsea striker completed his first hat-trick in China eight minutes later as he scored from close range. Obafemi Martins sealed the victory for Shanghai with a strike in the 87th minute.

Although Guangzhou R&F played more aggressively in the first half, Beijing Guoan were the one to break the ice in the 26th minute with a Piao Cheng header for what was his first goal in the 2016 CSL season.

Guangzhou R&F equalized before halftime when Australian Giannou side-footed the ball into the net after a fine pass from Renatinho.

Shandong Luneng played out to a goalless tie against Shanghai SIPG, in their first CSL game under Felix Magath who took over the Jinan-based team on Tuesday.

Luneng have won only two matches after 13 rounds in the 2016 season and now sit 14th in the league standings, just above Hangzhou Greentown and Changchun Yatai. Yet in stark contrast, Luneng made breakthrough in the AFC Champions League as they have progressed to the quarterfinals for the first time.

In other matches, Shijiazhuang Ever Bright beat Henan Jianye 1-0, Jiangsu Suning beat Chongqing Lifan 2-1, Changchun Yatai lost to Liaoning Whowin 2-0.

The 14 round of the CSL will start on Friday. Endit
