Evergrande coach Scolari confident of victory over Yanbian

Xinhua, June 17, 2016 Adjust font size:

Nothing but three points from their Chinese Super League game against Yanbian Fude this weekend would satisfy Guangzhou Evergrande coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.

"I have a lot of respect for our rival team, but I'm confident about winning tomorrow's match," Scolari told a press conference on Friday.

"My players are the source of my confidence," added the 68-year-old Brazilian.

But with Guangzhou's club-record signing Jackson Martinez and defender Feng Xiaoting injured and Zhang Linpeng suspended, Evergrande captain Zheng Zhi refused to .

"Yanbian are a good team. Several Yanbian players are technically skillful and they have built good chemistry over recent years. I think, it's gonne be a tough game tomorrow," said the 36-year-old Zheng, who had previously played three games with Yanbian.

Meanwhile, Yanbian coach Park Tae-Ha admitted that Evergrande is a class above his side, but said that Fude would try their best to stop Evergrande from clinching a victory.

Evergrande defeated Yanbian 2-1 at home and tied 0-0 away in the 2010 season, when both teams were playing in the second-division league. Endit
