China cuts its holding of U.S. treasuries in April

China, the top buyer of U.S. Treasury securities, cut its holding in April, the latest data from the U.S. Treasury Department showed on Wednesday.

China reduced its holding of the treasuries by 1.8 billion U.S. dollars to 1.2428 trillion U.S. dollars in April. The country has cut its holding for two consecutive months by April.

Japan, the second largest foreign holder of U.S. treasuries, increased its holding by 5.7 billion dollars to 1.1428 trillion dollars in April.

In April, overall foreign holdings of U.S. Treasury securities dropped to 6.2385 trillion U.S. dollars from 6.287 trillion dollars in March. Endit
