RB Leipzig have signed striker Timo Werner from relegated Stuttgart, the newly promoted Bundesliga team confirmed in an official statement on Wednesday.

Germany' s Under-21 international joined the "Red Bulls" after putting pen to paper on a four year deal, which keeps him in Leipzig until June 2020.

"Timo Werner has, despite his young age, already a lot of Bundesliga experience. He has impressively demonstrated his qualities at this level several times. With his commitment we increase our quality in the offense," Leipzig' s sporting director Ralf Rangnick said.

The 20-year-old new arrival is a record holder in the Bundesliga, as he became the youngest player, with 17 years and 249 days, to score two goals in Germany' s top flight. In addition, he was the youngest player who made his 50th outing in the Bundesliga with 18 years and 351 days. Since the age of six Werner played for Stuttgart where he provided ten assists 13 goals in 95 Bundesliga appearances.

Werner' s new club, RB Leipzig, climbed divisions as they promoted from the fifth division in 2009 to the second division in 2014 before they clinched the top-flight promotion in 2016 to become the 55th club to play in the Bundesliga. It will be the first former East Germany club since 2008-2009 that takes part in Germany' s first division. Endit
