China acts on wild bird slaughter

Xinhua, June 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

China's forestry authority said Wednesday that it had completed a campaign against the illegal killing or sale of wild birds and animals.

The campaign lasted from April 20 to May 20, focusing on the illegal killing -- especially with nets and poison on migration routes -- transportation and sales of birds, the State Forestry Administration said.

During the period, authorities filed 342 criminal cases with a total value of 46.7 million yuan (about 7 million U.S. dollars), caught 507 suspects and confiscated 2,268 illegal products made from wild birds and animals. Endi
