Hebei China Fortune tie Shanghai Shenhua 2-2 in Chinese Super League

Xinhua, June 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Hebei China Fortune came from behind twice to tie Shanghai Shenhua 2-2 at home in the 21st round of 2016 Chinese Super League (CSL) on Wednesday.

Cao Yunding headed home to put Shenhua 1-0 ahead after 14 minutes, before Stephane Mbia equalized for Hebei, also with a header, in the 25th minute.

The visitors took the lead again before the interval when Demba Ba fired home a long-range shot from outside the box, which made him the top scorer of the league with nine goals.

Hebei avoided a defeat when Mbia headed in from a cross in the 66th minute. With the 2-2 draw, Hebei remain second in the league standings.

Meanwhile, Jiangsu Suning were held 1-1 by Guangzhou R&F at home. Apostolos Giannou collected a Jang Hyun-soo pass to open the scoring for R&F in the 75th minute. But Guangzhou's joy was shortlived as Suning's Brazilian striker Alex Teixeira grabbed an equalizer with a volley just four minutes later.

Chongqing Lifan clinched their first victory in 12 games, defeating Hangzhou Greentown 1-0 at home. Ding Jie scored the lone goal in the 66th minute.

Elsewhere, Henan Jianye beat Yanbian 1-0 while Shanghai SIPG was held 1-1 by Changchun Yatai.

The 21st round, which had been scheduled to be contested in August, was brought forward to give the Chinese national team more time to prepare for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. Endit
