French policeman killed by terrorist: official

Xinhua, June 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

Monday's killing of a policeman and his wife in a Paris suburb was conducted by a male terrorist, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said Tuesday.

The policeman and his wife, who was also an official at a police station, were killed in the Paris suburb of Magnanville by a man who claimed allegiance to the Islamic State (IS), Cazeneuve was quoted as saying by media.

After an emergency government meeting convened by French President Francois Hollande, Cazeneuve told reporters that the killing was "an abject terrorist act," but did not give details.

The policeman was reportedly fatally stabbed in front of his home. The IS's Amaq news agency said the killing was carried out by the militant group. Endi
