First China-Europe parallel imported vehicles cargo train arrives in Chongqing

Xinhua, June 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

China's first cargo train carrying parallel imported vehicles from Europe arrived in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Monday.

The train loaded with 82 imported cars, including some famous brand autos such as Land Rover, BMW, and Audi, left Germany's industrial city of Duisburg about two weeks ago, said Pei Lei, an official with the Xiyong Comprehensive Bonded Area in Chongqing.

The train traveled through Poland, Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan before entered China via the Alataw Pass in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to Pei.

The route cut the transport time by over 30 days compared to shipping.

Parallel imported cars refer to cars imported without authorization from carmakers. Such vehicles are usually cheaper than similar models from domestic dealers or simply not available through official retail channels.

An imported car trading center is being built in the Xiyong Comprehensive Bonded Area to boost parallel vehicle imports. Endi
