The following are highlights of South African major media outlets on Saturday.

-- South African telecommunication giant MTN would not lose control of its Nigerian subsidiary when the company is listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, executive chairman Phuthuma Nhleko said on Friday.

MTN will list the company as part of a settlement with the Nigerian Communications Commission, which fined it a massive $5.2bn in October last year, for missing the deadline to disconnect 5.1m unregistered subscribers. The fine was later reduced to $3.9bn but MTN will only pay $1.67bn, about a third of the original fine of $5.2bn. (Business Day).

-- Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan came close to tears when he was asked about the Hawks investigation into him over an intelligence unit in the SA Revenue Services set up during his time as tax commissioner.

Last month there were reports that he faced imminent arrests. (News24).

-- Three men have been arrested in connection with the murder of two African National Congress activists, police said on Friday.

Police spokesman Captain Musa Ntombela confirmed on Friday that the three had been arrested in Pietermaritzburg's central business district on Thursday.(African News Agency). Enditem
