Liaoning Whowin beat Chongqing Lifan 3-2 for 1st home victory

Xinhua, June 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

Liaoning Whowin gained their first home victory this season after they beat Chongqing Lifan 3-2 in a relegation battle in the 12th round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Friday.

Both teams were desperate for a victory as either side suffered an awkward run of 10 winless games in the CSL.

It took just five minutes for Liaoning to take the lead as the 26-year-old striker Jin Taiyan fired a left-footer from the edge of the area into the net.

The visitors equalized through 22-year-old Brazilian forward Fernando Henrique da Conceicao in the 22nd minute, and even overtook the lead 2-1 as Argentinean midfielder Emmanuel Gigliotti converted a penalty in the 53rd minute.

Ten minutes later, James Chamanga leveled for Liaoning before substitute Zhang Ye scored the winner in 65th minute.

With the win, Liaoning climbed up a little from the bottom of the table with 11 points while Chongqing tailed the standing on nine points, together with three other teams.

The other seven matches of the 12th round will kick off over the weekends. Endit
