UAE aid agency sends Iftar meals to Muslims in Jerusalem

A United Arab Emirates (UAE) charity organization said Friday it is providing some 210,000 meals for fasting Muslims at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem throughout the Islamic month of Ramadan, Emirati state news agency WAM reported.
The meals will be be for the iftar (fast-breaking) after sunset and the suhoor before dawn, Ibrahim Rashid, commissioner of the Human Appeal International (HAI) in the West Bank, was quoted as saying.
The Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest worship site for 1.4 billion Muslims worldwide.
The UAE agency also plans to provide an additional 100,000 suhoor meals during Laylat al-Qadr on July 2, a night when the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Islam's Prophet Muhammad.
It will also offer tens of thousands of meals for poor families in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Endit
