British FTSE 100 rises 0.27 pct on Wednesday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Wednesday rose by 0.27 percent, or 16.99 points, to 6,301.52 points.

Share price of Anglo American increased by 4.81 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips. Fresnillo, Randgold Resources, Glencore and Marks & Spencer Group increased by 4.18 percent, 4.14 percent, 4.07 percent and 3.30 percent respectively.

InterContinental Hotels Group led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 2.31 percent, followed by Dixons Carphone (2.20 percent), easyJet (2.04 percent), Direct Line Insurance Group (2.03 percent) and Bank of Scotland Group (1.87 percent). Endite
