Kazakhstan injured soccer player receives surgery in China

Xinhua, June 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Konysbayev Ulan, injured in the international friendly against China on Tuesday, had received surgery at a local hospital in Dalian, a coastal city of northeastern China's Liaoning Province.

Ulan was stretchered off the field and immediately sent to the local hospital after he had been injured by a tackle from China defender Ren Hang in the 44th munite.

The Kazakhstan midfielder suffered the lower leg's fibula fracture as well as ankle and ligament injuries, said doctors of the Affiliated Zhongshan Hospital of Dalian University where the player got treatment.

"We had been operating on Ulan from Tuesday evening to early Wednesday," a doctor said, "The surgery is successful but it's hard to say how soon he will recover."

The Kazakhstan team had left China after the match and some of the team officials stayed with the player. Endit
