The following are the highlights of Zambia's major media outlets on Wednesday.

-- Opposition political leaders in Zambia have questioned how President Edgar Lungu managed to increase his wealth within a short period of time.

According to a declaration of assets filed by Lungu when filing his nominations for the presidential election last week, the Zambian leader is now worth 23.7 million Zambian Kwacha from 10.9 million Kwacha declared slightly over a year ago before he became president. (THE POST)

-- The Zambian government said it plans to construct medicine manufacturing plants so that drugs could be produced locally.

Deputy Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya said it was important for Zambia to start manufacturing medicines locally as it would help citizens access drugs at affordable prices, adding that the move would also enhance the provision of equity access to cost-effective quality health care services as close to the families as possible in a clean environment. -- Zambia intends to roll out the vaccination against the human papilloma virus (HPV) which causes cervical cancer to young girls countrywide next year.

Minister of Health Joseph Kasonde said Zambia ranks first in sub-Saharan Africa with a high burden of cervical cancer and that the HPV vaccine was recommended to pre-teen girl at age of 11 or 12 so that they are protected before ever being exposed to the virus.
