FINA Women's Water Polo World League Super Final to be held in Shanghai

Xinhua, June 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

2016 FINA Women's Water Polo World League Super Final is to be held from June 7- 12 in Shanghai with eight strong teams contesting in the six-day meet.

After the conclusion of the six rounds of preliminary games in Europe, Italy, Russia and Spain have qualified for the decisive phase of this year's World League, while the Intercontinental Tournament selected the other teams for the Super Final as Australia, Brazil, Canada, USA, and the hosts Team China.

As the highest-level Water Polo competition worldwide, and also the last international event before Rio Olympic Games, Team China hopes to gain more experience and improve technical skills.

According to Lei Ming, team manager of the Chinese team, the average age of the players are about 23-years-old and need more competition experience.

"We are lack of experience. We were formed as a team since the end of 2013. Most of our players have never competed in the Olympic Games except three veterans. We wish to learn more from the world powerhouses in the Super Final," Lei Ming said. Endit
