2nd LD: 5 Jordanian intelligence personnel killed in terror attack

Five Jordanian intelligence personnel were killed on Monday in a terror attack north of the capital of Amman, a government spokesman said.

The attack targeted an intelligence office at the Palestinian refugee camp of Al Baqaa, the government spokesman, Mohamed Momani, was quoted as saying by official Petra news agency.

The victims are three officers, a guard and a staff member at the office, Momani added.

Investigation is underway and a manhunt was launched to arrest the perpetrators, he said, adding that the details of the attack will be announced later.

No information was available yet on the weapons used in the attack nor on the number of the attackers. No one has claimed responsibility for the assault.

Jordan, a key U.S. ally, succeeded in preventing several attempts by militants to infiltrate into the kingdom and foiled several terror plots. Endit
