Annual sales of medical products up 10.2 pct in China

Xinhua, June 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Sales of medical products in China totaled 1.66 trillion yuan (252.5 billion U.S. dollars) in 2015, up 10.2 percent year on year, official data showed on Friday.

The growth rate was five percentage points lower than the previous year driven largely by declining medicine prices, according to a report made by the Ministry of Commerce, adding that these products cover seven major types, including medicine and medical instruments.

Retail sales, which accounted for 332.3 billion yuan of the total, grew 8.6 percent year on year, said the report.

As of November 2015, there were 13,508 pharmaceutical wholesalers and 4,981 chain retailers in China, according to statistics from China Food and Drug Administration. Endi
