More than 3,900 people have been displaced due to renewed conflict between armed groups in northern Shan state of Myanmar in May, according to a report of United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOHCA) in Myanmar Friday.
An estimated 1,600 people had left their villages in Kyaukme and Hsipaw townships alone earlier in May.
According to the report, the total number of displaced people reached 11,100 as of May since February resulting from fighting between the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS)/ Shan State Army South (SSA-S) and the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).
At present, the displaced people are staying in shelters, monasteries, and existing camps. The authorities and local organizations are providing assistance to them with food. Endit
