China issues disaster alerts

Meteorological authorities on Thursday warned of floods and geological disasters in rain-battered south China regions.

Chongqing, Fujian, Guangxi, Jiangxi and Zhejiang should prepare for floods and landslides, according to a warning statement issued by the National Meteorological Center (NMC).

Water levels in many southern rivers have reached or exceeded warning lines, and the situation may worsened as rain persists, especially in the provinces of Guizhou, Hunan and Jiangsu, the NMC said. Endi
