India, U.S. sign MoU on energy security, climate change cooperation

India and the United States Thursday signed an MoU here to enhance cooperation on energy security, clean energy and climate change, said officials.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by India's Power Secretary P.K. Pujari and U.S. Ambassador Richard Verma.

The agreement includes U.S.-India Energy smart Cities Partnership, Greening the Grid, Promoting Energy Access through Clean Energy expansion, energy efficiency including space cooling, renewable energy, energy security, and accelerating innovation on clean energy.

The agreement was signed before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Washington on an official visit next week. Endit
