Tokyo shares open higher on weaker yen

Tokyo shares opened the trading Monday higher on a softer yen that help boost buying of the export-related issues.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 91.33 points, or 0.54 percent, from Friday to 16,926.17.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 4.80 points, or 0.36 percent, to 1,354.73. Endit
