Asian Junior Athletics Championships to be held in Vietnam next week

The 17th Asian Junior Athletics Championships will take place here from June 3-6, with the participation of 45 countries and regions, the Vietnam Athletics Federation said Sunday.

The event, designated for athletes born in the 1997-2000 period to compete at 22 events for men and 22 events for women, will be held at Thong Nhat Stadium, by Ho Chi Minh City' s Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the municipal Athletics Federation.

According to the Asian Athletics Association' s regulation, the host country is allowed to register a maximum of 3 athletes for each event. Vietnam hopes to win bronze medals at women' s long jump and 100-meter running events, said the local federation. Endit
