Iraqi security forces on Saturday extended control on areas around the Islamic State (IS)-held city of Fallujah in the country's western province of Anbar.

This has been the sixth day of an offensive aimed at flushing out the extremist militants from the city, a provincial security source said. (IS-Fallujah-Iraq)

CAIRO -- The Egyptian armed forces in cooperation with the police killed 36 militants and defused 38 explosive devices in their last two-day security campaign in the Arish, Rafah and Sheikh Zuweid cities of North Sinai province, the military spokesman said on Saturday.

"The operations over the past two days ruined 25 houses and 57 huts of the terrorist elements," Military Spokesman Mohamed Samir said in the statement. (Egypt-Siani-Terrorism)

BERLIN -- A total of 33 people have been brought to hospital due to a lightning strike on Saturday during a football match in the west of German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, German media Focus Online reported, citing a police spokesman.

The report said that among the total injured, there were 29 children. Three of the wounded were suffering serious injuries in the accident in Hoppstaetten, a city in western Rhineland-Palatinate. (IS-Fallujah-Iraq)

NEW DELHI -- The death toll in blasts inside a chemical factory in Indian state of Maharashtra has risen to 12, officials said Saturday.
