Two security personnel among 5 killed in SW Pakistan attacks

At least five people including two security personnel and three militants were killed in two separate attacks in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Saturday, local Urdu media reported.

ARY News reported that two security personnel were killed and three others injured when a bomb went off near a vehicle of security forces in Awaran district of the province.

Police said that some unknown militants exploded a roadside planted device with a remote control when the forces' vehicle was passing by it.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

In the second incident, three militants were killed and two others injured in an exchange of firing with security forces in Barkhan district of the province.

The security forces launched search operation acting on an intelligence tip-off regarding presence of suspected militants in the district.

The militants opened fire at the forces during the operation, engaging them into a gun battle, which left three militants including their commander killed.

The forces also arrested the two injured militants and shifted them to some unknown place for investigations.

No loss of life was reported on the side of security forces.

The forces also recovered arms and ammunitions from the custody of the militants whose identities were not revealed. Endit
