Xinhua, May 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

Myanmar's new government will crack down on narcotics under two special projects -- Dagon and Yadanar Pone in Yangon and Mandalay, according to Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday.

These projects are also covered by a 100-day program being launched after the new government took office on April 1.

Meanwhile, the ministry also pledged to take measures on criminal gangs around the country, while planning to release political activists who are facing trials within 100 days.

The Special Investigation Department will also speed up to crack down on the embezzlement of state's money cases and business crimes.

At present, the ministry has released a total of 440 people who are facing trials for political cases.

According to official figures, over 900 criminal cases have been filed in Yangon region by regional police till May 20. Endit
