China warns of more heavy rain

Xinhua, May 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

More heavy rain will batter south and east China in the coming days after storms brought floods to some areas in the past week, the country's meteorological authority said on Saturday.

The National Meteorological Center (NMC) forecast downpours in Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Shanghai and Zhejiang, from Saturday to Sunday morning.

Some of those regions will be hit by thunderstorms, with parts of Anhui, Guangdong, Guangxi, Jiangxi and Zhejiang likely to see geological disasters, the NMC said.

Next week, rain will continue in south China and along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

A week of rainstorms has affected more than 70,000 people in southwest China's Guizhou Province and displaced over 27,000 people in central China's Hunan. Endi
