FIFA say Uganda risks being suspended from football tournaments

Xinhua, May 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

The world football governing body on Thursday warned Uganda' s football governing body that it could be suspended if it heeds to a government order to register as a trustee.

Moses Magogo, head of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) said on Thursday that they have received a warning from the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).

"We wrote to FIFA to guide us on what the Ugandan government through the National Council of Sports (NCS) want us to do. The world body has advised us not to go ahead because that will call for a suspension," Magogo said.

He gave an example of the Kuwait FA that was suspended by FIFA early this month during the Assembly in Mexico because the government of Kuwait had interfered in football matters in the country.

The NCS asked all sports federations in the country to register as trustees if they are to receive government funding. Endit
