Four targeted in Belgian raids suspected of planning attacks in Antwerp: report

Xinhua, May 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

Four people targeted in Wednesday raids by Belgian federal police were suspected of planning to attack northern city Antwerp, Flemish newspaper De Standard reported Thursday.

They were suspected of intending to recruit volunteers for the Islamic State (IS) and all of them had been in contact with an Antwerp inhabitant-turned major IS figure in Raqqa, the report said, citing prosecutors.

Of the four, one person was placed under arrest, another one under electronic monitoring and the other two have been released on strict conditions, according to the report. Endit
