Africa's scrabble champion to defend title against his Nigerian compatriots

Xinhua, May 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

Africa Scrabble champion Nsikak Etim said Thursday the toughest contenders in his quest to defend the title are his Nigerian compatriots.

Nigeria had the highest number of good scrabble players than any other country of the world, said Etim, who won the 11th edition of the Africa Scrabble Champion held in Cape Town, South Africa in 2014.

"For me, defending the title is not easy, considering the caliber of players we have in Nigeria. This is because we have been playing for up to a decade now, so we know our strength and weaknesses," he said.

Etim said he was looking forward to capitalize on the weaknesses of his contenders, while also improving on his own weakness and better his strength to defend the Africa Championship at the next tourney.

"I have been studying and playing very hard and I believe that with the little I am doing, I will be able to retain the Africa Championship," he added. Endit
