Austrian gov't announces projects centered on five key themes

Xinhua, May 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Austrian government under new chancellor Christian Kern announced Tuesday it will be introducing new projects centered on five key themes.

Speaking to the media following a cabinet meeting, Kern said educational reform, integration and security, labor market, innovation and research, and cutting red tape are to become the focus for the speedy development of various projects, for which both opposition parties and the Austrian Court of Audit will be involved.

He said plans for their implementation will be finalized over the coming months.

Neither he nor Vice-Chancellor Reinhold Mitterlehner wanted to set deadlines as had been done by previous governments.

Further steps would be outlined next week, and that a government meeting would have to take place, to which opposition parties would be invited, Kern said. Enditem
