Botswana, Mozambique presidents in talks

Xinhua, May 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

Visiting Botswana President Seretse Khama Ian Khama held talks Monday with his Mozambican counterpart Filipe Jacinto Nyusi to review cooperation relations between the two countries.

Khama, in Mozambique on a three day visit, is also the rotating chairperson of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC).

Mozambican government sources revealed after the talk of the two heads of the state that the main issue discussed was the export of Botswana's coal through Mozambican ports and supply of electricity.

Botswana signed an agreement with Mozambique in 2011 which include issues aimed at the construction of a deep water port at Technobanine, in Matutuine district of Maputo province. The construction of a 1,100 km railway linked the two countries was also covered by the agreement. Endit
