Republic of Congo firm launches second tablet smartphone

A Republic of Congo company, VMK, led by a Congolese youth Verone Mankou, the designer of Africa's first tablet smartphone, on Monday launched its second tablet smartphone dubbed "Elikia HD".
"Elikia HD tablet smartphone is a high quality product that took us over four years to design," Mankou said during the launch ceremony held in the capital Brazzaville.
The new tablet is equipped with a 3G SIM, 7.85 inch touch screen, a Quadri Core processor with an internal memory of 16 GB which could expand to 32 GB.
It also has a digital camera with the latest Android version of Wifi and Bluetooth capture.
The tablet smartphone will be sold at a price of 99,900 CFA Francs (about 170 U.S. dollars) as from May 30, 2016.
"Elikia" which signifies "hope" in the local Lingala dialect, is the brand of the different products manufactured by VMK.
VMK has recorded more than 100,000 products sold on the market since the launch of its first product in 2011.
Besides its first tablet smartphone, it has already produced four telephone models with the latest model called Elikia XS being produced at a factory in Brazzaville. The other products were produced in China. Endit
