At least two militants were killed and three security personnel injured in two separate attacks in northwest Pakistan on Saturday morning, local Urdu media reported.

Dunya News said the first incident happened when a group of armed insurgents opened fire at a police vehicle in Swabi area, a district in the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

In retaliatory attack, the police killed two militants, arrested three others while the remaining fled the scene.

One policeman was injured in the shootout and has been shifted to a nearby hospital.

In the second attack, two soldiers were injured when their vehicle hit a landmine in the country's northwest tribal area of Bajaur Agency along Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

No group has claimed responsibility for any of the attacks.

Security forces have cordoned off the attack sites for investigations. Endit
