Bosnia and Herzegovina voices support for China on South China Sea

Xinhua, May 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) on Friday voiced support for China on the South China Sea arbitration and reaffirmed its adherence to the one-China policy.

The remarks were made by Ognjen Tadic, rotating chairman of the House of Peoples of the BiH parliament, in meetings with China's top legislator Zhang Dejiang and top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng in Beijing.

In the meeting with Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), Tadic said BiH will abide by the one-China policy and hopes to strengthen parliamentary exchanges with China.

Zhang said the NPC, China's top legislative body, is willing to strengthen bilateral exchanges and sharing experience in legislature, supervision and national governance with the BiH parliament to provide better legal assurance for cooperation and people-to-people communication.

In the meeting with Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Tadic said China is BiH's good friend and partner. BiH supports China's stance on the South China Sea arbitration, Tadic added.

Yu said the CPPCC is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the House of Peoples to serve the two countries' development.

Both Zhang and Yu called on BiH to strengthen cooperation with China on the Belt and Road initiative, especially in areas such as energy and infrastructure construction, and synergize the two countries' development strategies.

Tadic said BiH is willing to play an active role in advancing the Belt and Road initiative. Endi
