Cape Verde, China explore new areas of cooperation

Cape Verde Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva on Wednesday met with Chinese Ambassador to Cape Verde Du Xiaocong, to examine new areas of cooperation between the two countries.

The Chinese diplomat who spoke to the media after meeting with the new head of government who was sworn in on April 22, said the meeting was an opportunity to deliver a congratulatory message from Chinese premier and reaffirm China's willingness to continue cooperating with Cape Verde.

"Our plan is to reinforce and promote cooperation between the two countries in various sectors, and I believe in the coming years, we shall come up with more projects," he said.

He added the new government led by Correia e Silva will analyse the new projects and areas of cooperation between China and Cape Verde.

This year marks the 40 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Over the years, China has accomplished numerous projects in Cape Verde, including the construction of the country's parliament building, presidential palace, national library, Praia maternity hospital and a national stadium. Endit
