Xinhua, May 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

Niger's cabinet which was already considered bloated when it was announced on April 11, 2016, has increased to 41 members after Tuesday's addition of a new minister, an official source in Niamey has said.

It will be recalled that President Mahamadou Issoufou named his cabinet comprised of 38 ministers after his re-election on March 20, 2016.

On April 12, Rissa Ag Boula, an ex-rebel leader, was named as minister in the office of the president while Chika Rakiatou Bako was appointed rural development minister.

On Tuesday, Issoufou signed a new decree appointing Ahmat Jidoud as the Budget minister.

Therefore, this government which is led by Prime Minister Brigi Rafini, has 41 members who include seven women. Enditem
