Bulgarian president urges Europe to solve problems today, jointly

Xinhua, May 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev here on Wednesday while addressing the 126th Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe said the continent should solve the problems today and jointly.

The world is out of balance today, a more unstable period is ahead, and the record number of crises puts into question national borders and international principles, Plevneliev said.

"We cannot afford to wait, to postpone or to transfer the problems to the next generation," Plevneliev said.

"Today, Europe has to find an adequate response to the record number of crises and extreme volatility we are witnessing," Plevneliev said.

There are the necessary tools, he said.

Will and courage are needed, Plevneliev said.

"We should make clear that every project we have, every problem we have goes beyond our borders and needs to have a common solution," he said.

During the session, senior representatives of all member states of the Council of Europe including 17 foreign ministers, discussed issues related to European security "in challenging times." Endit
