Xinhua, May 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

At least one policeman was killed and 14 others were injured when two blasts hit Pakistan's northwest Peshawar city on Wednesday morning, local Urdu media reported.

Samaa News quoted police as saying that the injured people included policemen, journalists, rescue workers and personnel of bomb disposal squad.

Two policemen were injured in the first blast, which targeted a police vehicle in Mathra area of Peshawar, the capital city of the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Police said that the vehicle was on its routing patrolling when a roadside fixed Improvised Explosive Device hit it at about 9:50 a.m. (local time).

Bomb disposal squad, media teams and rescue workers rushed to the blast site, shortly after the incident, when the second explosion hit the same area.

Police said that the blast, which was carried out by a remote-controlled device, injured 13 people.

All the injured people were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital where one policeman succumbed to injuries.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Police cordoned off the area and kicked off investigations. Endit
