Tokyo shares open slightly higher

Tokyo shares opened slightly higher on Wednesday after the government releasing the country's gross domestic product data for the first quarter this year.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched up 9.46 points, or 0.06 percent, from Tuesday to 16,662.26.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 1.67 points, or 0.13 percent, to 1,337.52. Endit
