Profile: Mozambican President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi

Invited by Chinese President Xi Jinping, Mozambican President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi is paying a state visit to China from May 16 to 21.

Nyusi received a mechanical engineering degree at Brno University of Technology in then Czechoslovakia and later took post-graduate studies in management at the Victoria University of Manchester in Britain.

He worked for Mozambique's rail and ports company Caminhos de Ferro de Mocambique in 1992 and joined the company's board of directors in 2007.

In 2008, Nyusi became the country's defense minister. He won presidential election in October 2014 and was sworn in in January 2015. Endi
