Bulgaria, Albania sign memorandum of cooperation on EU integration

Xinhua, May 17, 2016 Adjust font size:

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov and his visiting Albanian counterpart Ditmir Bushati here on Tuesday signed an intergovernmental memorandum of cooperation on Albania's integration into the European Union (EU).

After the signing ceremony, Mitov said that his country, an EU member since 2007, is willing to share its experiences with Albania to help it through the "difficult path of reforms leading to EU membership."

By signing this memorandum, Bulgaria and Albania would also give new impetus to their traditionally good bilateral relations, Mitov said.

In turn, Bushati thanked the government of Bulgaria for its continued efforts in the process of Albania's progress towards the EU.

Over the past years, Albania and Bulgaria have developed a frequent and comprehensive political dialogue, and earlier on Tuesday the two ministers discussed the possibilities to expand this positive climate in other fields of bilateral cooperation, Bushati said.

Both countries can do better in bilateral trade and intensify efforts in sectors such as energy and tourism, he said. Endit
