Spanish treasury places 1.966 bln euros on market

The Spanish treasury on Tuesday placed treasury bonds worth of 1.966 billion euros (2.225 billion U.S. dollars) on the market.

A total of 1.555 billion euros worth of nine-month treasury bills fetched an average interest rate of -0.199 percent compared to the -0.092 percent of the previous issue.

The placement also included 411 million euros worth of three-month treasury bills that carried an average interest rate of -0.394 percent compared to the 0.274 percent of the previous auction.

After the auction, the Spanish risk premium was at 143 points and Spain's 10-year bond interest rate at 1.58 percent.

The Spanish treasury will hold another auction on Thursday aimed at placing between 2 and 3 million euros on the market. (1 euro = 1.13 U.S. dollars) Endit
