Singapore stocks close 1.65 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 45.05 points, or 1.65 percent, to close at 2,781.11.

A total of 1.80 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.18 billion Singapore dollars (859.1 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 268 to 156, while 483 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 1.15 points, or 0.04 percent, to close at 2,736.06 on Monday. Enditem
