The following are news highlights in major Nigerian media outlets on Tuesday.
-- Talks between the Federal Government and organized labor on increase in the pump price of petrol ended in a deadlock on Monday night.
Briefing journalists on Tuesday, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, said the two parties had "a fruitful discussion and will continue from where we stopped". (The Punch)
-- The skyrocketing prices of goods and services across the country have reflected in Nigeria's inflation rate, climbing to a near six-year high of 13.7 percent in April, 0.9 percentage point higher than the previous month's level of 12.8 percent. (Vanguard)
-- After about one and half years since the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja was shut by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for runway repairs, the runway has gone bad again, requiring fixing.
The Minister of State, Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said he had no option but to shut the airport as the runway was riddled with pot holes. He, however, didn't say when to shut the airport. (Daily Trust) Endit
