The following are highlights of South African major media outlets on Monday.

-- VODACOM cut its dividend slightly for the year to end-March despite a small growth in aftertax profit.

The cellphone network declared a R4 rand final dividend, taking its total dividend for the year to R7.95 - a 1.2% cut from the previous year's R8.05 dividend. (Business Day).

-- A powerful group of former directors-general (DGs) have written to Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and Public Service and Administration Minister Ngoako Ramatlhodi, asking them to institute a public inquiry into how senior government officials contravened laws to benefit the Gupta family.

Their letter to the two ministers, which has also been copied to President Jacob Zuma and Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa refers to "corrupt practices ...(that) have been brought to our attention that are tantamount to breaking laws".(City Press).

-- The ANC in Gauteng Province has backtracked on its previous position that President Jacob Zuma's public apology for the Nkandla matter is "not enough".

Gauteng ANC's provincial executive committee said that rather than discuss issues in "dark corners" it should express its view publicly.(Mail & Guardian).
