Xinhua, May 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Russia's Far East city of Vladivostok held a motor rally on Sunday to commemorate the fallen soldiers in the Great Patriotic War, Russia's term for World War II (WWII).

Named "Roads to Remember", the rally was also dedicated to the 71th anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War with a view to enhancing public awareness about Russian history and developing patriotism among local youths.

Setting off from the Memorial Submarine S-56, a submarine-turned museum devoted to Russian seamen's heroism during WWII, the participants of the rally were composed of war veterans, members of local authorities and students who honored the fallen soldiers by presenting flowers and observing a minute of silence.

During the rally, the convoy of cars stopped at all the memorial places and monuments in Vladivostok where the veterans told the youths stories and the history about the places.

With more than 300 people taking part in, this was the third time that the "Roads to Remember" rally was held, Vladimir Klimenko, a participant of Primorsky region, told Xinhua, adding that the students "have to remember those who contributed a lot in the victory of the Great Patriotic War." Endi
