Djibouti engineering students leave for training in China

Twenty Djiboutian engineering students left the country on Wednesday heading to China where they will receive technical training on the railway sector.
This is the second batch of Djibouti engineering students to undergo similar training in China.
The director of Djibouti Railway Company, Mahamoud Robleh, said the training, which is entirely funded by China, is part of the "skills transfer" agreement under the ongoing project to construct an electric railway line linking Djibouti to the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
Financed and constructed by China, the 752 km railway line will henceforth reduce the time taken between Djibouti capital and Addis Ababa to six hours.
The railway line that is expected to be inaugurated in the course of this year, will equally have capacity to transport 3,500 tons of goods instead of the 500 tons on the existing line that was constructed by a French company in 1917.
Robleh noted that the training illustrates the excellent relations between Djibouti and China.
The first group of Djiboutian engineering students to be trained in China was received back to the country by Djibouti president in February this year. Endit
