Gentner, Ginczek extend contracts at Stuttgart

Xinhua, May 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

Christian Gentner and Daniel Giczcek have extended their contracts with relegation threatened Stuttgart, the Bundesliga club announced on Tuesday.

Both players have extended their commitment in Stuttgart despite the relegation battle as team captain Gentner signed an extension until June 2019 whereas Ginczek stays until June 2010. The contracts are also valid in case of relegation into the second division.

Gentner spent most of his career in Stuttgart except three years (2007-2010) that he played for Wolfsburg. However, after rejoining the "Swabians" in 2010 the 30-year-old midfielder made 182 Bundesliga appearances where he provided 29 goals and 21 assists overall.

Ginczek followed his team captain and extended his contract as well. Despite being sidelined with the second cruciate ligament rupture, the second of his career, the 25-year-old striker committed his future to the club. Ginczek made only 30 appearances since 2014 but scored 15 goals.

Stuttgart sit in the drop zone of the Bundesliga standings. They need a victory over Wolfsburg at the final round of the season to maintain their minimal chance of remaining in Germany top-flight. Endit
